Feral Animal Control within the Northern Holroyd Plain Aggregation

The Northern Holroyd Plain Aggregation is an area that is suffering ecosystem disturbances leading to habitat loss and biodiversity decline. The feral pig and horse have a major impact on this area consequently CYWAFAP developed a aerial shooting program to reduce invasive species threats.

The aerial shooting is carried out in a R22 Helicopter with qualified and experienced shooters.

Project Objectives:

  1. To reduce the population and impacts of feral pigs and horses on the Northern Holroyd Plain Aggregation.
  2. The training of rangers on country in the preparation and control of feral animals using intergrated methods.

This project is funded through Caring for Our Country, Costal environments and critical aquatic habitat priorities.
